Has anyone ever planned doing (the modern treatment of) Zhang's theorem on bounded gaps of primes? Or Chen's infinitely many pairs (p, p+2), where p+2 is prime or semiprime? The proofs should be a lot shorter than FLT.

I'm sure this is within scope, it would be a major project, you would need a leader with a lot of time to spend on it.
