Topic: zulip desktop app

I recently started using the desktop app for zulip, and I find this to be a mild improvement over the web browser. On MacOS, it's as easy as brew cask install zulip, and then it shows up in your Applications folder. (presumably it's also available in a similarly non-fussy way for a somewhat-broad set of linux distros, but I haven't looked)

Seconded, the desktop app is really good, there is also a cli for 1337 haxors https://github.com/zulip/zulip-terminal :grinning:

I can't find it on apt, but on Ubuntu snap install zulip works

I really like the desktop app too. I get to see the Lean streams and the Coq, Isabelle and functional programming streams as well

Alex J. Best (Aug 16 2020 at 20:05):

Which functional programming one? funprog.zulipchat.com ?

Rob Lewis (Aug 16 2020 at 20:06):

Heh, not a promising start on Ubuntu, I can't type anything in the "organization url" field when I open it

That's the one. It has a whole lot of functional languages

Rob Lewis (Aug 16 2020 at 20:23):

Well, the version from their website works better than the one from snap.
