Old DMs

This is embarrassing to admit, but I have some very old unread DMs, but I'm no longer able to reach them. There is an unread indicator (both in the web app and the android app) next to "Direct messages", but scrolling down the list of DM conversations I never reach anything with an unread indicator.

In fact, a more severe problem is that the list of conversations under "Direct messages" is surely far far fewer than I have had over the years on Zulip!

If you know who they were from then you can "More conversations" and then type in the name in "Filter direct messages". I have also found it a bit annoying that it's no longer possible to keep scrolling down your list of people who you ever DMed. Right now mine only goes back to Feb 10.

Wait -- I just tried my claim and it doesn't seem to be true! I had to search for the author of the DM in the search box and then click on "direct messages with Joe Bloggs". The old messages were still there, fortunately :-)

I am either not popular enough or too zero-inbox-brainwashed to be able to test this, but if you click on the direct messages feed button and then hit p I don't suppose this brings you to the message(s)?

Have you tried this search? is:unread is:dm

To be clear, it's not good that you can't reach them via the left sidebar. But it should give you access as a workaround.

Interestingly, after executing that search, those conversations have re-appeared in the Direct Messages list.
