How to Print and View MessageLog Structure

I see Lean implements a MessageLog structure, I wonder if this is where all the feedback to the user (say compiler output and Infoview fields) is store, if it is, how can I print this to see its content? I am writing a program to get the compiler feedback, error messages etc.
