Stream: Lean Together 2025
Topic: Videos of talks
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 14 2025 at 23:25):
OK so I figured out how to work YouTube and I even made a Lean Together 2025 playlist! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlF-CfQhukNlzXdQvu1SVt9vcD4--fLlg
All of today's talks are up, I can't promise I'll be as efficient every other day but I'll do my best!
Jan Grabowski (Jan 15 2025 at 16:00):
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the organisers and contributors, especially for enabling asynchronous participation.
For a mix of work and family commitment reasons, I couldn't and can't attend many - maybe even any  - talks live, so I really appreciate having the videos and have had a very pleasant afternoon bingeing yesterday's session.

Day 2 videos incoming on the leanprover-community YouTube channel. Sorry for the delay, my daughter is going back to university this week and I spent the evening with her.
Pietro Monticone (Jan 16 2025 at 00:31):
On the schedule page, the YouTube playlist link incorrectly points to the 2024 playlist instead of the 2025 one.
Pietro Monticone (Jan 16 2025 at 00:33):
Update: Fixed now.
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 16 2025 at 00:38):
@Jireh Loreaux or @Riccardo Brasca can either of you do something about Pietro's comment? There's an LT25 playlist. I've just clicked through to upload all the videos but I need to go to bed now (and several are still uploading), hopefully I got it mostly right.
Pietro Monticone (Jan 16 2025 at 00:44):
It's already been fixed.
Jireh Loreaux (Jan 16 2025 at 01:01):
Thanks @Rob Lewis
Ching-Tsun Chou (Jan 16 2025 at 02:42):
Two of the second day’s talks are marked as “private” on YouTube. Will they become public later?
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 16 2025 at 07:04):
That sounds like my error, I'll fix them the moment I get to a computer!
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 16 2025 at 07:05):
Sorry, I didn't have time to check my work yesterday
Henrik Böving (Jan 16 2025 at 09:28):
I also noticed that the bv_decide one is still missing? Or is that one of the private ones (I don't know how to see private videos, why could you even see a video if it was private?!)
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 16 2025 at 09:29):
I'll take a look at this now
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 16 2025 at 09:42):
Yes apologies, two videos somehow didn't make it through, I left 8 videos processing and went to bed but two were still marked as "draft" when I woke up. Hopefully all 8 of Wednesday's talks are now available.
Ching-Tsun Chou (Jan 16 2025 at 19:30):
From what I can see on YouTube, the problem has been fixed. Thanks!
Edward van de Meent (Jan 17 2025 at 08:55):
@Kevin Buzzard did you decide not to edit your "London Learning Lean" introduction?
https://youtu.be/4yLegqAU6W8?si=h0HYQ-GU91iqiF8Y ?
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 17 2025 at 14:51):
Things ended pretty late for me last night so I just stuck everything up on the internet on the basis that this was more important. I think there's a way to add popups somehow to youtube videos but I've been driving for 4 hours today and haven't got back to it yet, sorry.
Ching-Tsun Chou (Jan 17 2025 at 17:27):
As a quick fix, I guess you can just add a comment to the textual description of the video pointing out the error.
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 18 2025 at 09:39):
OK sorry for the delay. I don't know if you can edit videos once they're up on YT so I edited McKoen's video locally and re-uploaded; the link above is now broken and https://youtu.be/PHL4Ma3znmE?si=VCdzQ6cIzuqSHtMN is McKoen's talk
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 18 2025 at 09:39):
All Friday's talks should also be uploaded now -- let me know if I made any more errors!
Kim Morrison (Jan 18 2025 at 10:49):
@Kevin Buzzard, I don't see @David Ang's video in the playlist?
Kim Morrison (Jan 18 2025 at 10:50):
Similarly for @Leni Aniva.
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 18 2025 at 12:09):
Leni didn't want her talk to be recorded because she said that the information given in it will be out of date soon. David I'll have a look
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 18 2025 at 12:17):
David's was up there, I just failed to add it to the playlist. I'm doing everything manually so I can believe I've made more errors. At least there are 27 videos up there and 27 recorded talks.

This is of course completely up to Leni, but it would be great to have this recording available for a few days (and then taken down a little later) for those of us in a time zone that made watching live difficult.
Jireh Loreaux (Jan 19 2025 at 20:10):
Unfortunately, I think there is no recording whatsoever, not just that it was not uploaded. Sorry, I don't believe we considered this possibility.
Eric Wieser (Jan 19 2025 at 20:18):
Whoops, Kevin's wording was quite clear, obviously you can't upload a recording that was never made!

When considering the options for recording, perhaps the options should include the option to record the session but only allow it to be distributed via the presenter.
Jireh Loreaux (Jan 21 2025 at 04:53):
That's an idea, although it could present some technical challenges (i.e., distribution of the recordings to the presenters, distribution from presenters to others, lack of a central access point for videos, etc.). We'll certainly keep this issue in mind for future iterations of Lean Together.
Ashley Blacquiere (Jan 23 2025 at 16:38):
@Kevin Buzzard are you ok if I post about this and share the link to the playlist on our official Lean FRO socials (LinkedIn, Twitter and Mastodon, presently)?
Jireh Loreaux (Jan 23 2025 at 17:52):
Go for it!
Jireh Loreaux (Jan 23 2025 at 18:00):
Go for it!
Kevin Buzzard (Jan 23 2025 at 20:09):
Yes sure!
