Properties of objects that are closed under subobjects and quotients #
Given a category C and P : ObjectProperty C, we define type classes
P.IsClosedUnderSubobjects and P.IsClosedUnderQuotients expressing
that P is closed under subobjects (resp. quotients).
We also relate these two classes to their analogues in the opposite category:
P.op is closed under quotients iff P is closed under subobjects, and dually.
Given P : ObjectProperty C, we say that P is closed under subobjects,
if for any monomorphism X ⟶ Y, P Y implies P X.

Given P : ObjectProperty C, we say that P is closed under quotients,
if for any epimorphism X ⟶ Y, P X implies P Y.
Instances
A property of objects P.op is closed under quotients iff P is closed under
subobjects, since epimorphisms in Cᵒᵖ correspond to monomorphisms in C.
A property of objects P.op is closed under subobjects iff P is closed under
quotients, since monomorphisms in Cᵒᵖ correspond to epimorphisms in C.
A property of objects Q.unop is closed under quotients iff Q is closed under
subobjects.
A property of objects Q.unop is closed under subobjects iff Q is closed under
quotients.
